Bardia National Park

Bardia National Park Bardia National Park is located in Nepal’s western plain lands, east of the Karnali River, covering an area of 968sq.km. It is the largest and most undisturbed protected area in the Terai. What makes a visit to Nepal's Royal Bardia National Park particularly special is not just its large and intact habitat area and its isolated location, but also the presence here of one of the last known herds of wild Elephants in South Asia. Here you can gain an experience of your life time. The varied geographical factors together with the thick cover of Sal, savannah forests and grasslands renders make this region ideal as wild animal habitat.

It is the home to many endangered species including tiger, wild elephant, rhinoceros, swamp deer, blackbuck, Gharial crocodile, marsh mugger crocodile and Gangetic dolphin. More than 30 different mammals, over 200 species of birds, and many snakes, lizards and fish have been recorded in the park's forest, grassland and river habitats. This park is famous for elephant safari or jungle drive. And there's always the rare chance that you can see the elusive freshwater Gangetic dolphins that inhabit the rivers. All of these activities are included in your jungle package. Muger and Gharial crocodiles share the water with gigantic dolphins as well as several other species of reptiles, amphibians, insects and butterflies. For pleasurable sight-seeing you should be in Sukarmala from where you can see the panoramic view of Surkhet valley and the elongating plains of the Terai.
